Drogheda to become a Wi-Fi town

The Chamber of Commerce in Drogheda has revealed plans to turn the town into a public broadband site.

In a bid to encourage inward investment, BT Openzone has set up a number of wifi hotspots in key locations throughout Drogheda, including hotels, cafes and service stations.

Locals are never more than 5 minutes away from a wifi hotspot which forms part of the BT Openzone subscription.

The Chamber of Commerce hope that the wifi setup will attract knowledge based companies to invest in the area.

Graham O'Rourke, president of Drogheda's Chamber of Commerce, described the scheme as a milestone in Drogheda's infrastructural plan. "With BT, we have added yet another critical piece of telecoms infrastructure to Drogheda's CV and will continue to lead the way in this and other areas".
