Esat/BT Openzone launches new pre-paid card

Esat BT has launched BTb-line, a pre-paid communications card that allows customers the choice of multiple communication services including BT Openzone Wi-Fi, International dial-up Internet access, International phonecalls and SMS messaging without the limitation of an expiry date.

The multifunctional usage of the BTb-line card facilitates a more flexible international communications account, where customers can choose how, when and where they use their minutes. Priced at €10, the card operates under a 'Pay As You Go' pricing model that can be topped up easily by credit card.

Commenting on the announcement, Bill Murphy, CEO, Esat BT said; ''Today's announcement is in line with our commitment to provide better value, flexible options for our Wi-Fi service BT Openzone, which reflect the varying needs of our customers. The multifunctional nature of the new card provides competitively-priced communications options to suit every mobile worker's needs."

The new €10 cards will be available for purchase within hotspots or online at http://www.btopenzone.ie and will replace the current €10 BT Openzone Wi-Fi only voucher.

How BTb-line works:
BTb-line will act as an interface between BT Openzone and other communications facilities. BTb-line is a prepaid account available in £stg, Euro or US$ which offers a range of communications services which are debited on a per minute basis for time used. The account can be topped up over the Internet or by phone. Users can use the BTb-line account for:
BT Openzone - BT Openzone provides users with high-speed, secure wireless access to the internet and corporate networks. The service allows anyone with a Wi-Fi enabled laptop or PDA to send and receive large quantities of information at broadband speed whilst away from their normal place of work. Users must be within a 100 metre radius of the BT Openzone hotspots.

BT Openzone users have access to more than 130 hotspots across Ireland and thousands more in the UK.

International Dial-up Internet access - Users simply download and install the dialer software whereby a screen will appear and the user connects the modem cable to the laptop and to the phone jack. Users select the country, town and connection type, enter the BTb-line account number and PIN and press connect to get onto the Internet. Calls cost 18c per minute in over 48 countries worldwide.

Telephone calls - A list of freephone numbers is provided on the back of each card. Users call the appropriate freephone number for the country in which they are based. When prompted, users enter their PIN number and dial the destination number.

SMS Messaging - Users simply log onto their BTb-line account on the Internet and select SMS. Type in your message (up to 125 characters), then select the mobile number or numbers you want to send the message to from your built-in address book. Sending an SMS through BTb-line will cost approximately 12c.
